Breaking Habits

This journey of weight loss is really not about weight loss at all for me. Don't get me wrong. The idea of losing weight is wonderful, but this journey of weight loss is more about breaking the habits that prevent me from ever losing weight. Habits of not exercising--ever. Habits of craving junk. Habits of eating a full meal while I am preparing dinner for my family and then another when we sit down at the table. Habits of giving my kids well balanced meals but not setting a good example by eating fruits and veggies myself. Habits of drinking coffee--coffee all day long.

The past seven days have been encouraging and discouraging all the same. Habits are hard to break. I'm done with excuses, though. I'm ready for a life of new habits--healthy habits. I'm ready to feel like myself again. I owe it to myself and I owe it to my girls.

Running shoes are coming back out tomorrow. Looking forward to the next week of sore muscles and new habits.

  1. So happy to be sharing this adventure with you. It is so true ... habits are hard to break. If you ever want to go for a run in the evening when our hubby's are home let me know. Would love to run with you :)

  2. Why is it that creating the bad habits is so effortless, but breaking them seems to take all the willpower in the world???? Good job taking the first step! Don't give up! Just remember that they say it takes 21 days to create a new habit...
